Marcos Patchett

Herbal Medicine, Astrology

Marcos provides herbal help for a wide range of conditions (e.g. nervous, skin, digestive, musculoskeletal and gynaecological problems), and has a particular interest in complementary treatment for people living with HIV. He also has experience treating babies and young children, and is the unofficial on-call herbalist for most of his friends and relatives with young families!

Marcos graduated from Middlesex University in 2005 with a first class honours BSc, having also been awarded a first-year scholarship, the Herb Society's national 'Best Third Year Student' prize and the Elsevier prize for Herbal Pharmacy. Since graduating he has written for Positive Nation magazine, conducted several workshops for Neal's Yard on various subjects related to herbal medicine, and lectured on the subject of the medicinal uses of chocolate at the South Bank Centre and the Archway Clinic of Herbal Medicine. From 13th June 2009 Marcos and his colleague Lynne Hulka began the first regular British clinic to provide complemetary Western herbal medicine for people living with HIV (in addition to treating people with other ailments) at Archway Clinic in North London.

Marcos has also completed a certificate in astrology and is a student of renaissance and classical astrological techniques, and uses them in his Neal's Yard practice as an additional therapeutic tool for certain patients (where appropriate &/or on request). He is currently conducting ongoing observation- and pharmacy-based research into the uses of herbal medicine in HIV, whilst writing his first book, on the medical history and usage of chocolate.
